Pennies for Peace-Week One

Leawood’s Student Leadership has teamed up with the 2nd grade Girl Scout troop to raise money for “Pennies for Peace.” “Pennies for Peace” was started by an American mountain climber who saw the horrible living conditions in Pakistan. Greg Mortenson (author of Three Cups of Tea) saw that students did not have any supplies or a place to learn. When he returned to the US, he started “Pennies for Peace.” Schools all over the nation have collected many thousands of dollars to build schools and supply students with the materials they need to learn. More information can be found on their website www.penniesforpeace.org.
We collected gallon milk jugs and we made signs for each one. Then Miss Brunaugh and Mrs. Bole delivered them to all the classrooms in our school. Check this blog to see how much money we collect each week!
